Indicators and chart patterns only work if the majority of traders believe in them as well. They work because they are self-fulfilling prophecies, so how do we take advantage of these truths? My hypothesis is that, because our traditional methods for identifying chart patterns are lagging indicators, we need to create leading indicators for each chart pattern that will give us an edge when entering a position.
